13 Days of Halloween: Day Four

We love pumpkin patches.

We really, really, truly do. Some may say it borders on obsession. We would agree. Why? Because we take hundreds of photos at each pumpkin patch. Because we go through them ( all of them) numerous times a year. Because we exclaim over pumpkins like each is a newly born child. Because we sincerely believe that we (and everyone else) are more beautiful while amongst pumpkins. Normally screaming children can annoying. Not in a pumpkin patch. In a pumpkin patch, they are delightful, adorable ghouls. The pumpkins, and the places where they grow, are magic.

We go to pumpkin patches every year. For us it is one of the highlights of fall. We usually look for them online, and it's not hard to find patches with farm stores, hay rides, snack shacks, espresso, hay rides, petting zoos, roasted corn, corn mazes, crafts for children, and more...even in the city. There's still time to go find your pumpkin before Halloween!

Here are a some ( well, okay, a lot) of our favorite pumpkin patch pictures from over the years.

Enciso Family Farms was the first pumpkin patch we visited while in Seattle. Fairly close to the city, Enciso Family Farms is a quaint little patch a variety of pumpkins and gourds, vintage barns, poultry and (if you're lucky) a cat! On most days you can purchase hot chocolate or cider to enjoy as you wander the farm. Their pumpkins are reasonably priced and many of the smaller ones are only a dollar. Though small, they do accept credit cards, which is nice if you are headed over from the city. They are also open past dark while a lot of the other pumpkin patches in the Seattle area close at 6 or 7.

Adorable!
Lovely historical barn with vintage farm things!

Also near Seattle is Bob's Corn. It is a little further from the city, but Bob's Corn goes all out with hayrides, a corn maze, a snack shack and some of the best roasted corn ever. It is also a year-round farm and they sell delicious canned goods, sauces, spreads, and soaps.

Bob's Corn Crew, hard at work preparing cider and treats!
Wonderful rustic accents!

A pumpkin patch we just discovered this year is Pheasant Fields Farm in the Rogue River Valley in southern Oregon. This farm has a harvest festival, a few smaller pumpkin patches, lovely pumpkins for eating and carving, a corn maze, food, drink, and beautiful fall foliage.

To find nearby pumpkin patches and farms, we usually turn to this website. It is super informative, has a lot of local farms, and is a great jumping off point when planning your own trip to the pumpkin patch!
